Design pioneer Alvar Aalto�s asymmetrical waves (�aalto� in Finnish) won the 1937 Paris World Fair. In the decades since, they�ve become an icon of Scandinavian interior design. Taking inspiration from the thousands of lakes in his native Finland, Aalto�s waves combine function and sculpture. Each Aalto vase goes through a multi-step production process at the Iittala Glass Factory. First, the vase is mouthblown, then hand cut before going through several polishings.
